The blue whale circulatory system is quiet amazing. The picture above shows the size and shape of a real blue whales heart. The real size of a blue whales heart is about the size of a VW bug. A small child can actually crawl through the veins and arteries. This massive heart pumps blood through the blue whales body. The temperature of the blood is kept at about 98 to 99 degrees, the same as a humans. the size of the animal is what keeps the whale warm at the core. The massive size of the body makes the volume to surface area ratio balanced enough to maintain this internal body temperature. This giant heart pumps 10 tons of blood through the massive body that it belongs to. Like a humans heart the blue whales heart is four chambered. This allows for effective oxygen transfer to the blood stream, more effect then other heart designs like a frogs three chambered heart. It also helps tell us that these creatures are not fish, for fish only have two chambered hearts. Like a humans circulatory system the blue whales is a closed system. This means the blood stays in arteries and veins. This allows for efficient oxygen transfer to the necessary organs and functions. In terms of function and set up it is much like a humans and other mammals.
